FixTheCountry: Waakye vs V8

Thousands of Ghanaians have thronged to the streets of Accra to demand better living conditions as FixTheCountry Movement staged their first protest today.

FixTheCountry is not a political party, neither is it influenced by a political party. According to the conveners of the movement that “There are already enough political parties in our system. And if a new political party was all that Ghana needed, our Country will be better already”.

Today, the movement embarked on a demonstration to register their displeasure on how the system in Ghana is being manned. The long awaited demonstration ended successfully after the conveners and Ghana Police service agreed on the route.

The Greater Accra regional police in a press release indicated they “have drawn adequate security arrangement for the FIXTHECOUNTRY demonstration, slated for Wednesday, August 4, 2021”.

The demonstrators started from Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and ended at the Black Star Square. They were in read attires, placards with several inscriptions. The one that kept many wondering is “WE AIM FOR WAAKYE THE AIM FOR V8…. LIFE NO BALANCE. #FIXTHECOUNTRY”.

This inscription portrayed that Poverty isn’t disappearing from our communities; people are still being born today in communities where they will never get the chance to lift themselves and their people from abject poverty. The conveners belief this is not what future of Ghana need.

The movement believes that those driving the Ghana’s system as leaders are not managing it well especially the economy. That they only care for themselves. Hence, the need to remind them to refocus on proper management of the economy.

They believe when this is done, life will be easy when jobs are created which will go further lessen burdens and hardships in the country.
